Egg-straoridnary Dishes!
Ever notice how people try to teach something as simple as boiling an egg and manage to make it feel like a chemistry exam? I wanted to do the opposite.
So, I built a little gamified sample project in Articulate Storyline: The Foolproof Guide to Boiling Eggs. My main question going in was simple: How do I get someone to successfully cook an egg on their first try without overthinking it? Instead of dumping a wall of text, I broke it down into three clean phases: prep, cooking, and result. I added micro-interactions—like waiting through the boil, peeling, and revealing the final egg—so learners are actually doing, not just reading.
A few things I intentionally left out:
🚫 Deep dives into the molecular science of eggs
🚫 Multiple cooking methods upfront
🚫 Clunky drag-and-drop interactions that break accessibility
The goal was a quick win on the first try. Plus, keeping accessibility in mind wasn't an afterthought—clean focus order, custom keyboard navigation, alt text, and captions were built right into the logic.
Sure, this version is a bit more playful than what I'd normally ship under tight client constraints. But the core thinking—simplifying the flow, respecting the learner's time, and making it fun—stays the same.
Note: The project may take time to load.
